Who we are and what the FromTeachers privacy policy covers

FromTeachers (https://fromteachers.com) is an educational blog run by Walid Berchid, a special education teacher. We publish practical guides for teachers and parents of neurodivergent learners. This FromTeachers privacy policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

Information we collect

Comments. When you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and your browser’s user agent. We use this to display your comment and to help detect spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Gravatar. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. If you have a Gravatar, your profile picture appears next to your approved comment.

Newsletter. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address (and your name if you provide it) through Mailchimp. We use it only to send you our emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.

Contact. If you contact us through a form or by email, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply to you.

Site statistics. We use Jetpack Stats to understand which articles are useful to readers. It collects aggregated information such as pages viewed, referring sites and general location (country), and it does not identify you personally.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email and website in cookies so you do not have to type them again. These cookies last for one year. The site also remembers whether you prefer dark or light mode. Some cookies are needed for the site to work and for caching to keep pages fast. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Embedded content and links

Articles may include embedded content or links to other websites, such as research sources and our resource shop at berchid.com. Other websites have their own privacy policies and may collect data about you when you visit them. We are not responsible for their practices, so please review their policies.

How we use your information

  • To publish and moderate comments
  • To send the newsletter you signed up for
  • To reply to your messages
  • To keep the site secure and protect it from spam
  • To understand which content helps readers most

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Who we share your data with

We share data only with the services that help run the site: our web host, Mailchimp for the newsletter, Jetpack for statistics and security, and an automated spam detection service for comments. These services process data on our behalf and only for these purposes.

How long we keep your data

Comments and their details are kept so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer you.

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, unless we must keep it for legal or security reasons. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
